Advanced AV Joins Vidtel’s Video Conferencing Channel Partner Program
Vidtel’s MeetMe service provides AV integrators with new options for monetizing video conferencing, including offering it as a service to reduce their reliance on box sales.
Sunnyvale, Calif., and West Chester, Pa. – July 17, 2012 – Advanced AV has joined its channel partner program as its first announced partner in the Mid-Atlantic region. Vidtel’s program gives AV integrators new opportunities to target price-sensitive small and medium enterprises (SMEs), upsell larger customers and escape product commoditization by turning video conferencing into a service-based business.
Under the agreement, Advanced AV’s business, education, government and house of worship customers now have the option of using Vidtel’s cloud-based MeetMe video conferencing service. MeetMe enables any-to-any video conferences between telepresence suites, executive desktop video systems, PCs/Macs, smartphones and tablets using any combination of SIP, H.323, Skype and Google Talk technologies.
MeetMe eliminates the traditional barriers to video conferencing adoption, particularly among SMEs: cost, complexity and interoperability. As a result, Advanced AV now can target a larger pool of potential customers. MeetMe also provides Advanced AV with a recurring revenue stream, reducing its reliance on video conferencing hardware and software sales.
MeetMe helps Advanced AV upsell existing video conferencing clients by extending their room-based and executive-desktop systems from vendors such as Cisco and InFocus to interoperate with PCs, Macs, smartphones and tablets running Skype and Google Talk. This flexibility maximizes the value of their video conferencing investments by allowing them to serve as more than executive intercom systems.
Advanced AV has sold Vidtel MeetMe service to Drexel University, which extensively uses H.323 systems internally and had a need to incorporate users on other systems in a cost-efficient manner. “Vidtel MeetMe has solved a problem for our instructors who wanted remote guest lecturers on other platforms to be able to present to students on our H.323 systems. We’ve used video conferencing for recruiting and I foresee the administration using the service once they see how easy it is to connect to different users,” said Rob Rasberry, who runs instructional technology support at Drexel University.
